As we left Tama-Toledo this morning, the sky was overcast and the pavement was wet. You could tell that it had rained overnight. Even though it remained overcast the entire day, there was never more than a sprinkle of rain on me.
I left at about 6:30 AM and had intention of catching Scott and Diane who had left before me. I did catch them about 20-25 miles from the start and rode the rest of the day with them.
We stopped at Beekman’s and a few other places for short periods of time.
The next overnight town was North Liberty. The host home was pretty good, although we were sharing the facilities with 3 other teams. They did allow us to use two bathrooms, and we got there early enough that they weren’t crowded for showers. They also put out snacks and beverages, had a campfire and lit off fireworks at the end of the night. The fireworks were a bit late for most people, and Joe actually yelled at them to stop because people were trying to sleep. They did stop after that.
Scott, Diane and I walked across the street for supper at the pizza place. Do you see a recurring theme when it comes to pizza - supper - RAGBRAI? The pizza was good.
